Making a Donation to the Foundation

Donations to the Bishop Kelly Foundation are encouraged and gratefully accepted to help support Bishop Kelly High School with its mission to educate and develop the whole student in the Catholic tradition- Spirit, Mind and Body. In order to facilitate such donations, the Bishop Kelly Foundation has established the following giving options:

Endowed Funds
For a minimum donation of $10,000, an endowed fund may be established with the Bishop Kelly Foundation. If the endowed fund is to be generated by the collection of memorial funds, the Bishop Kelly Foundation will track donations for one year to determine if such donations total the minimum of $10,000. The donor(s) or family of the deceased may set up criteria for granting of awards from endowed funds, consistent with the values and standards of Bishop Kelly High School. The school administration or its designee (financial aid committee) will be responsible for selecting the recipients of endowed funds, consistent with the criteria established by the donor. Grants/scholarships from endowed funds will be awarded annually at the rate of up to 5% or $500, whichever is greater.
Memorial Funds
All contributions made as memorials will be accepted as unrestricted funds to be used by the Foundation in its ongoing efforts to provide an annual subsidy to Bishop Kelly High School unless otherwise specified (for example, as a contribution to the general scholarship fund or if designated to a particular area of interest at Bishop Kelly High School). These funds will be contributed to Bishop Kelly High School consistent with the purpose of the Bishop Kelly Foundation and in accordance with its bylaws.
General Funds
All contributions made to the Bishop Kelly Foundation as general contributions will be accepted as unrestricted funds to be used by the Foundation in its ongoing efforts to provide an annual subsidy to Bishop Kelly High School unless otherwise specified (for example, as a contribution to the general scholarship fund). These funds will be used consistent with the purpose of the Bishop Kelly Foundation and in accordance with its bylaws.
Scholarship Funds
Contributions may be designated as gifts to the Bishop Kelly Foundation Scholarship Fund. The gifts may be made to an existing named endowment, or they may be made to the General Scholarship Fund, which is a general endowment fund. Distributions are made according to the directions outlined in (1), above. Scholarship donations given as part of the Winner’s Choice Event will be made available to the school’s financial aid committee to be distributed as need-based tuition assistance to students as part of the Foundation’s annual scholarship distribution.
Planned Gifts
Bequests, estate gifts, deferred gifts, and any other form of planned gifts are gratefully accepted. Provisions for those gifts are further outlined in the Bishop Kelly Foundation Planned Giving Policy. If accepted, they will be considered contributions according to the directions outlined above and as directed in the bequest.
